Lowend’s Mission
Since 2016, Lowend Garage has been in the center of the Chicago automotive social scene. Whether it is at the track, a concours or an annual ‘Car Party’ like Checkeditout; there is sure to be an imprint from Lowend. Lowend brings art and culture to that sacred freedom we enthusiasts celebrate, the automobile. Creating events, content and art direction are the core of what Lowend does. Culminating in racing, drives, parties, creative products and even a record store.

The first word Adam Kern put together as a child with his Fisher Price letters was ‘Chevrolet.’ Fitting for a kid born into a GM family, on both sides. Whether it was skateboarding or being behind the wheel of his 1969 Cutlass, transport always meant freedom and expression to Kern. Expression where style was paramount. Art, music, and pop culture molded the young Kern to achieve a BFA in Fashion Design. During those years while living in Pilsen, Adam created gallery shows, runway presentations and DJ performances, all events that at their very heart were a party.
Porsche life came much later. But what started by flipping through the pages of a Porsche coffee table book, transformed into passion. The purchase of a 996 was the key to a whole new world of friendships, experiences, and fun. In 2016, Lowend Garage Chicago as we know it, became a ‘thing.’ Born out of a desire to go racing, Lowend morphed into other events like drives, and garage nights. Art direction, products and content creation jumped into the mix along with the event planning.
2018 is where everything changed. Building on an idea to get a few Porsches together in the heart of Chicago, while naming the event after a man who shared a similar passion, Checkeditout was born. Checkeditout has grown from Kern’s small idea to an annual event for over a thousand plus enthusiasts and fans with over 250 vehicles. Checkeditout’s signature is its welcoming atmosphere, party vibes and pushing the creative boundaries of what people previously thought a car event should be.
